My Story

Michael Johnson started PRYME Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine with the dream of having a clinic that will rehabilitate patients from their current injuries, identify potential causes of their injury, for both general population and athletic populations, and to help patients  achieve future physical fitness/life goals.

Michael has an extensive history with Physical Therapy where he had numerous injuries due to sports when he was younger consisting of a displaced tibia/fibula fracture, 3 ankle surgeries, and 3 shoulder surgeries. This sparked his love for Physical Therapy where he attended the University of Hartford where he graduated with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2012. He is a board certified orthopedic specialist (OCS) and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS). He is currently studying to become a board certified sports specialist (SCS) as well. He believes that the field of medicine is constantly evolving and that continued education on new techniques and current evidence based practices combined with new state of the art equipment is critical for the absolute best outcomes for patients.

Mike professionally has had the great opportunity to intern/work as a strength and conditioning coach at the University of Hartford. He worked for a large corporate physical therapy company where he treated patients with a large variety of orthopedic injuries, developed strength and conditioning programs for local high schools, injury prevention programs, dynamic warm ups, and injury assessments for runners. Following this, he became an equity partner in a physical therapy company where he was able to continue to develop his clinical knowledge base, and also learned a great deal about ownership of a physical therapy business. Over his 10+ years experience he has treated patients following  orthopedic surgeries, fractures, overuse injuries, motor vehicle accidents, work injuries, and concussion/vestibular dysfunctions.
